I will be traveling from out of town. What else can I do while in Quito?
Quito is a vibrant city full of history and charm! Be sure to explore the beautifully preserved Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and visit the iconic Mitad del Mundo monument, where you can stand on the equator. For stunning panoramic views of the city, take a ride on the Teleférico (cable car) up to the slopes of Pichincha Volcano. Quito also offers a wealth of restaurants, museums, and cultural attractions to discover.
If you have time to explore beyond the city, Ecuador has so much to offer! You can hike around the breathtaking Quilotoa Lake, enjoy birdwatching in the cloud forests of Mindo, marvel at the dramatic Devil’s Cauldron Waterfall in Baños, or unwind with a relaxing spa day in the thermal hot springs of Papallacta.

Should I be worried about altitude sickness?
Quito is located at a high altitude (about 9,350 feet/2,850 meters above sea level), so some guests may feel mild symptoms like shortness of breath or dizziness. It’s a good idea to drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol on the first day, and take it easy for the first few hours after arriving. If you’re concerned, talk to your doctor before traveling.
